Drawing Society of Canada
The Drawing Society of Canada was founded by Gerrit Verstraete and fellow artist Peter Leclerc in 1998. The society is a non profit educational initiative featuring, by special invitation, those Canadian artists judged by their peers to be true drawing masters. These are the honourary members of the Drawing Society of Canada. Their work and biographical material are featured in two online galleries: the Gallery of Canadian Drawing Masters and the Gallery of Canadian Figurative Masters. The society through its educational initiative the Canadian Academy of Drawing offers an online course, with critique, in classical drawing based on the renowned “Drawing Course” by Charles Bargue, first published in Paris in 1860. The course offers students ACAD, Associate of the Canadian Academy of Drawing, certification. The course is open to students worldwide.
